2017 CSCI-CITAC Annual Scientific Meeting: November 20-22, 2017

We are pleased to announce that the 2017 CSCI-CITAC Annual Scientific Meeting will take place in Toronto, on November 20-22 2017, at the Chestnut Residence & Conference Centre. The evening of Tuesday November 21st will include a CSCI-CITAC social.

Registration and abstract submission are completed at the same time. Please submit your abstract and register by Saturday September 23rd, 11:59 p.m. (You are no longer eligible for the draw to win a Fitbit.*)

This year’s theme is “Roll Up Your Sleeves – How To Manage Your Physician-Scientist Career”. The conference gives you the opportunity to: 

  • Discuss your research findings with peers and faculty
  • Engage with MD-PhD/MSc and other MD+ trainees and residents from across the country
  • Hear lectures from distinguished guests
  • Build your negotiation skills and diversity savvy, and get feedback on your planned career trajectory through specialized workshops

Come join us! You will leave having seen inspiring talks by leading clinician scientists, met new friends and mentors, and updated skills, plans and motivation. Take part in this conference by following these steps:

1. Sign up for a free CITAC membership here. This step needs to be completed before conference registration. We migrated over to a new system at the end of 2016, so if you were a member before then you will need to create a new account.

Registration and abstract submission occur at the same time. After signing into your CITAC account, click here to reach the registration & abstract submission form.

2. Register for the conference (cost is $35).

3. Submit your abstract (due September 23rd, 2017, 11:59 p.m.) along with your registration. Submitting an abstract (and registering) by the extended deadline does not make you eligible for a draw for a Fitbit*.

4. If required, book your accommodation at DoubleTree Toronto Downtown at our reduced conference rate (you can access the link to the reduced rate of $189/night on the registration & abstract submission form as well as in the conference e-mail invitations).

When submitting your abstract during registration, please ensure your abstract is formatted appropriately, and follow points 1-7 below. The abstract can be either structured or unstructured. 1. Please submit your registration and abstract by September 23rd, 2017, 11:59 p.m. 
2. Formatting:

  • Abstracts should be no more than 1450 characters including spaces (~200 words).
  • Use Times New Roman font, 12 pt.
  • Please do not include any figures or tables.
  • Use a concise title in bold. Capitalize the first word.
  • List name, initials and institution of each author.
  • Underline the presenter's (your) name.
  • Use superscripts for all affiliation numbers.
  • You are welcome to separate text into structured abstract headings: Background/Purpose, Methods, Results, Conclusions

3. By submitting an abstract to the Young Investigators’ Forum (YIF) and selecting "Publish abstract?=YES", you are consenting to publication of a summary of your abstract in Clinical and Investigative Medicine (CIM). The abstract text will not appear on PubMed. If you do not want your abstract summary to be included in the YIF, select "Published abstract=No".
4. Limit submissions to one abstract per person. Submissions will be forwarded to the CSCI abstract adjudication committee.
5. Classify your research as one of the following research areas during abstract submission: Basic Science, Clinical Research, Clinical Epidemiology, Translational Research, Other (please specify).
6. Indicate whether you are interested in being considered for an oral presentation (N/A for late abstracts).
7. All abstracts submitted will be eligible for participating in the poster competition and select top-ranking abstracts will be selected for oral presentation.

When preparing your poster, please limit your poster to 6' (width) x 3' (height). The poster presentations will continue to take the form of “poster walks”.  Stay tuned for further details.
